After a difficult qualifying, Josh was looking forward to a better race and in the sighting laps and warm up lap his bike seemed a lot sharper than yesterday, so naturally this spurred him on to get a good start in dry, sunny conditions.
He got off the line pretty well, holding his position of 17th and headed for turn one. As the pack bunched up on the inside Josh rode around about half the pack on the outside. Two got him back on the drive out of the turn but into turn three he outbraked another two and as he went to pass the portugese wild card rider, Olivera he was hit from behind by another rider, taking his bike out from underneath him. Uninjured Josh tried to get going again but his bike was too badly damaged.
The other rider had started from 4th on the grid, and had went backwards from the start. Over exuberannce no doubt contributed to this racing incident and although dissapointed, Josh accepts that these things are all part of racing.
'I had got a decent start for a change, made up some good places in turn one and felt confident of giving it a real go for a top ten finish.' Josh stated on his return to the pits. 'I had outbraked a few down the inside at turn three when I was hit from behind sending me spinning out into the gravel. I'd have loved to been in the mix all race, but these things happen I suppose. I just have look forward to France next month and hope I can go well there.'
Without scoring points Josh has dropped to 16th overall in the Rookies Cup standings.
